Got the 65 Rambler up to sixty mph on a side road today with no unusual noises and it seemed to behave itself. I have the auto trans and 2.73 rear axle ratio so it cruises comfortably at 60. The punch list is getting shorter and I hope to knock out another couple of items next weekend. 1. Rocker cover oil leak right at the front of the head. I've tighened the screws but it still leaks. It's a new gasket. 2. Gas filler hose leak. My 65 has the molded rubber insert and it split where it fits over the pipe coming up from the tank. It's split in the front and rear but some Permatex gasket maker fixed the front. 3. Temp gauge is not working. I checked the resistance from the temp sender and it seems too high even when the engine is warm. My used transmission slips a little when it shifts up when the car is cold, but shifts more cleanly when after the car is driven a few miles. I plan to baby it and check the transmission pressure next weekend. I replaced the weatherstripping on the rear doors today. Then drove it about 20 miles all tolled, I hope everyone had a meaningful Christmas.
