Last weekend I gave serious thought to polishing up the Rambler and listing it on the Bay and the List. Figured I want to drive up to the North Georgia mountains or down to Apalachicola, and just not sure of going that far in the Rambler. I gave my Corolla to my middle son to take up to Chicago to go to Loyola. My oldest son's car is in the shop getting a valve job and timing belt, so my wife lent her Highlander to him. So, it was Rambler time again. It started with no muss, no fuss. Drove my youngest son to church, and he marveled at the dimly glowing green light of the dash, the bright green of the turn signal indicators and the orange of the highbeam indicator. Very cool and very different from any car he has ever been in, and a lot of fun to drive at night with the windows down, just cruising slowly home past Kennesaw Mountain (well, Kennesaw hill for East Coast folks, and Kennesaw bump for the Colorado folks). Last night my oldest son took the Highlander to a Beatles tribute band concert at the Strand on the Marietta Square. He went by himself and got adopted by "older" Beatles fans (I'm guessing those "older" fans are my age or younger!). On getting out, the Highlander wouldn't start. Dead battery. So I went to pick him up and jump start the Highlander with the Rambler. No problems. No muss. No fuss. Every time I think I want something newer, the car just earns it's keep. Think it's time to tuck away a little cash and have it gone over properly by a good mechanic familiar with AMCs. The car has earned it over and over and over again. Where's the Rambler now? My son borrowed it to get to work. His car is still down. The Rambler is still putt putting along. _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
