Go to
http://www.hotrodstohell.net/truckarm/truckarm_gbody/truckarm_gbody.htm.
That's basically the set-up you want for truck arms. I wouldn't use
actual Chevy truck arms, too heavy! Those guys use a pair of thin
channels back to back, but I've seen them made from rectangular and
round tubing. I plan on making a set using 2" thin-wall (16-14 gauge)
tubing -- 11 gauge (roughly 1/8") is a bit too thick. The tubes need to
twist/flex some. The longer the better! I plan on making up a kit, but
that is still a ways off. Maybe next fall/winter's project -- got to
build a truck this winter/spring!! I am getting a 65 Ambassador hardtop
soon. Interior is rotted, but I plan on making a Queen City Rambler
NASCAR replica
(http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/resin/66ambstcar.jpg;

Go to the HRTH main page. The S-10 crossmember looks like it would work
well, but the G-body crossmember would be easy to modify for the 63-66
Rambler also. Go to their catalog and all you really need are the
crossmember ($250), arms ($220 each = $440), axle saddles ($54/pair),
and maybe U-bolts ($48/pair). Use the Rambler panhard rod, shock mounts,
and springs/saddles. So buying form them is just under $800 plus
shipping. Their kits are $1995 but include springs, shocks, and screw
jacks for adjusting the springs. Not bad for all you get.

I know we wandered around on this subject a few years ago. I have
decided that the Ambassador is getting a set.
I've done some reading and searching and all I find seems to have
remained the same info over the last few years.
Has anybody here actually done these on anything? An AMC Torquetube car
experience would be sweet for info. I doubt I will find that.
