I hear you Russ.  Everyone has a story.  But the coast was clear in my neighborhood today.  No sign of the police.  No commuter traffic since it was mid day.  I needed to warm the engine to check the tranny fluid level.  The car said take me for a drive and I did.  I won't make a habit of it but the muffler shop that's going to do my exhaust is only one block down the street.  I'm not trailering the car one block.   So it will see a little more ilicit street time.

About four or so years ago I drove my beat up 82 Concord from my house to my shop to do the engine pull, etc. About a mile from the shop I get pulled over and since I bought the car for parts I never transferred title.
So guess what? Yeah, car towed, ticket (here it is only about 100 bucks or so), insurance hit for 3 years and lost the car.
Funny thing is the car was bought locally at an impound lot for $50, as the PO had no insurance.....Russ
