I am helping a good friend of mine pull his 1964 AMC Rambler American 440 out of the woods and get it running again. It has a 196cu. in I6 under the hood, which hasn't run in a good amount of time. Unfortunatly, my friends Grandpa (the original owner), let the car sit out for many years without an air cleaner of the carburetor, and it has rusted and frozen up. Other than that, we can't find anything wrong with the engine, transmission, or rear end (of course rust has taken its toll on the floors), so we want to go ahead and try to start it, but the carb problem is holding us back. The carburetor is a Holley 2387-2 1bbl, which I haven't been able to find any information about. I have found parts for a Holley 2387-1, but not a 2387-2 like we need. I am a MoPar guy, (although I love SC/Ramblers and Rebel Machines) so I don't know where to begin, and searches on the internet and AMC forums have turned up nothing. I was wondering if you know of a source for parts or know of another model which would bolt in it's place; and I am sorry to bother you otherwise. Thanks!
