I concur. 
I went so far as to use a cut off wheel to remove the recess. Mig'd in a piece of flat metal some grinding and light finish work. Done. 
    I'd gather that non AMC people and even some AMC people don't realize there should be an emblem there!  
   The only mistake in my book is to do this with a full restoration, or, simply fill it with plastic. Eventually it will crack and pop out. 
   I like the look of mine and rarely even think about it being gone.

Hey guys, I don't know if they are still doing them but someone on www.epage.com used to 
sell some neat plastic inserts for Ramblers, Americans and Rogues. Not reproductions, just 
something to fill that triangular space, they looked good and who would know anyways. I do 
not know if they were still selling them on there for about $20 but might want to look.

Joe; I have pockets deep enough, at least at payday, but I just can't justify the cost. 
When I had my 65 painted, one of the body work things I did was to fill in that area. It 
looks good and I was going to have an emblem painted there, but the cost was more than the 
emblem, so WTF.
It sits filled in and paited, but I like it better. I have never been a hood 
emblem/ornament guy anyways. Probably stems to when I speared myself on a 61 Lincoln hood 
emblem.......Russ
