Hey Ted, I'm cc'ing you to the AMC_eagle@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx list as well as the AMC-list where eddy sent your email. I'm doing the same swap, but with EFI and an AW4 (so my wife can drive it and we'll be an almost all AMC family once the Subaru and Chev are gone) The easiest way to attach the trans is move it back slightly and put the motor in the car with 2 extra long studs where the 2 biggest bolts go it. I pre-align the converter and flexplate (it lines up one way out of 4) before reassembly and make sure the converter is pushed all the way in so it touches the trans housing slightly when spun (after installing a new front seal of course!) The studs will allow the trans and motor to slide directly together if on the same level and help it stay in place while you start the bolts. As for pics, check out the Eaglenest someone is bound to send you the link to. I'm on my way to Canada to see my mom, who won't be with us much longer due to cancer, but dang she's a fighter! From: FordManTED@xxxxxxx Subject: Need paint and your advice or forums to go to-HELP Eddie- Again thanks for posting my needs on installing 4.0 heads on net and for good parts contacts. I got some good info but I need your advice on reinstalling my 258 -6 back in Eagle. First;it was a learning experience since I didn't know engine and trans. were installed before body put on. Explains why it was almost impossible to find and get 3 upper rear engine/trans bolts out. Had a long fingered friend with a Gear flex rachet wrench get them out. Then I find out there is hardly any space to pull engine with portable hoist. Rear wiring and wiper motor in way. From the manual I got from you ;it doesn't show or address these problems.Had to strip engine down and remove RH engine/axle mount brkt to get engine to clear LH brkt. Now I need 4/6 cans of engine or exterior Honey Gold paint to redo engine area and touch up some minor rust/paint repairs. Also, need 2 cans of 73 AMC Hornet engine aqua paint. Do you have both? How much? Amazed that at 103K;only T/C set worn with nylo n teeth still intact. #1 AND #6 ROD BRGS. STILL LOOK NEW WITH SOME PISTON RING WEAR AND CAM/LIFTER WEAR.Now-BIG QUESTION,what is simplest way of rebolting up A/T to back of engine? NO room. Where can I get good engine pics of how all engine brkts. and items go together since I had help on disassembly. Cleaning and repainting it all. Any tricks or advice that I need to know when removing all emissions which are mostly gone. I'm installing a 4.0 #7120 head wit tubular header that i had to notch Clifford #4500 alum. intake and cut off tabs over 4 mtg. holes plus rattail area to clear bolts better. Installing Howard reground cam with lifters,T/C,frt. A/T seal, reworked 4V Holley, and new HEI dist. setup plus single to dual muffler with 1 3/4 " pipes in front of rear wheels like my Shelby. will service A/T,A/C,P/S and rad. for starts. Do you know or have any 1/2" head bolt bushings or new head bolts for 4.0 head conversion.? How much? Anything I need to know now that I don't kno w? Got back to work in 7 weeks after triple bypass and doing OK with the LORD's Help. Thanks again. God bless you and your family and take good care of them.
