I pretty much came to the same conclusion since repairing this kind of
damage is going to be dicey at best if it is even possible and any used
condenser is most likely going to be 25-30 years old. On the other hand
I don't want to have to do a lot of custom plumbing. I found the
following which is supposed to be a bolt-in replacement:
http://www.supremecondensers.com/catalog.php?make=AMERICAN%20MOTORS&year=
1985&category=3&model=EAGLE
I also found that AMC vendors Kennedy American and American Parts Depot
carry a stock replacement condenser. While I prefer to support AMC
vendors when possible the price difference in this case is pretty
considerable ($188.60 vs. $279.00).

Get a NEW one.
Designed for todays standards.
They are more efficient.
The biggest issue is fitting it and hose changeover.
Others can add more. Probably some people who have done it or have a
stock one to sell you.
