Re: [AMC-list] time to find a stout 5 spd tranny now i think.

The answer is yes, but you need to drive with care, don't put big sticky tires on it and don't power shift it.

If you want to race it, hammer on it, etc; you will break it. There's a fine line of abuse a T5 will take. The biggest no-no is shifting with both feet on the floor pop the clutch kind of thing.

John Elle drove one behind a 390 for years.

so, i have a guy who has a 401 he wants to trade me for a snow plow blade for
a truck. i didnt pay anything for the snow blade, and was getting ready to
haul it to the scrap yard. id be stoked if i can get a decent 401 for that
hulk of in my way metal. lol. i want to put a 5 spd behind it and drop it in
casper. i wonder if a well built t5 could stand up behind a very mild 401? im
talking a world class. i have a ford 9" that i think will fit perfectly under
it.
