I wonder if maybe it is related to driving styles, or clutch material embedding in the sleeve?
   Pointless curiosity. Steel ones available to fit them all 4WD.com has steel Jeep ones that are a perfect fit for the AMC swap/trans. 
   I just got curious as I see no wear on any AMCs. One trans could be a fluke, but three? Hmmm

Replying to my own email but I did check the SR-4 and the T-5 in my storage hangar today.  The input bearing retainers are not scored on either tranny.  The SR-4 came for a 79 or 80 Spirit with lots of miles and the T-5 came from an 86 Mustang.
