Considering everything he did to displace the O2, fillling the tank with CO2, arc welding with an inert gas and the air to fuel ratio staying out of range to support combustion, I still wouldn't do it. My hat off to him. ________________________________ From: "amc-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx" <amc-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Fri, March 26, 2010 11:27:06 PM Subject: AMC-list Digest, Vol 12, Issue 83 Send AMC-list mailing list submissions to amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to amc-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx You can reach the person managing the list at amc-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxx When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of AMC-list digest..." It doesn't look like all of the galvanizing was taken off by the stripping process but it did have some rust beforehand. The deep hole has an oil passage that goes around a head bolt and meets up with an oil passage in the block. If you still have the factory bolts, I would use them. If they are in bad shape, you'll need to find exact matches so you don't cause oiling problems. It works, until it doesn't. When it doesn't. No big deal as the welder is usually no longer around to worry about it. Had a local shop, guy pulling a gas tank. He needed some light so he hung a drop light and kept working. Got tank loose. In a remarkably coordinated effort he managed to dump fuel from the tank and knock the drop light into the puddle at the same time! Picture, guy with gas dripping down his arms. Light bulb, poof, flames everywhere. The guy spent months in a burn unit. The shop burned to the ground with a handful of customers and new cars inside. Those of us working in area shops learned to pull gas tanks in the dark. No one remembers all the times shit like this goes right. Screw up one time and burn the shop down and they never let you forget it! The clip does not surprise me. On the farm, if you broke it, you fix it, learned to weld at 12 when I broke the plow They stood by me and made me fix it,,Redneck, well hell they motivated me to a PHD, and I still go back and learning country ways ,,each time I go home. Damn proud of their minds. This brings up an interesting question of the philosophy of the list. The country is now being tested and challanged on the original form of government. Many state to me why AMC, they view it as a failure, I view AMC as a future that was not acccepted due to social pressures of acceptance, yes I was one , had the duster 340, 454 stingray, 63 Ford 401, much more. The question asked, why,,I am a redneck,,,well educated,,but I am devoted to the preservation of the american dream of freedom, Amc and others worked toward it, some, motivations were not all based on the ethics, but money. I must say, that I am so concerned of the loss of rights, I will take my AMC'S and proudly display them as hard working Redneck Ethics, out ofWI, built with pride. By the way, I am still a crappy welder, rather sit on my bag of seeds and direct. I close with sincere passion of what WI did for America Do not judge me, My statement is showing what redneck's built, that gas tank was a normal farm boy activity Garry ----- Original Message ----- From: <das24rules@xxxxxxxxx> To: <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, March 26, 2010 8:02 PM Subject: Re: [AMC-list] we're all a bunch of wimps >i give him props... hes got bigger nutz than i do... > > dave stohler > www.picasaweb.google.com/das24rules > _______________________________________________ > AMC-list mailing list > AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx > http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com > _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Sat, 27 Mar 2010 03:00:53 +0000 From: wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx To: "AMC, Rambler, Nash, Jeep and family" <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [AMC-list] Fw: 232 ROCKER SHAFT Message-ID: <1899575937-1269658845-cardhu_decombobulator_blackberry.rim.net-783375735-@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252" If he does not have the bolts I have a set Sent from my BlackBerry? wireless device from U.S. Cellular -----Original Message----- From: Matt Haas <mhaas@xxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 26 Mar 2010 22:42:05 To: <nelsonbdall161@xxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: AMC, Rambler, Nash, Jeep and family<amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx>; Eddie Stakes<eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [AMC-list] Fw: 232 ROCKER SHAFT Tim, The hold down hardware is the same for all positions. The truck was on my concrete driveway. The tank was brim full. I couldn't really tell how full it was before I pulled it because the tank sender was part of the corroded fuel pump assembly and everything was tits up back there. The tank dropped onto the concrete driveway and I found myself lying in a big pool of stale gas. No sparks. Thank the Lord. I was working by myself behind my privacy fence too. No one could have gotten to me easily even if they had heard my screams. I'm now a wimp and proud of it.
