Indy HR heads are the full-bore race heads. They require the Indy intake and Chrysler headers and valvetrain parts. They are basically an adapted Indy Chrysler head. Back in the days before there was an AMC specific head racers would bore the AMC head bolt patter in Chrysler big block heads and use them since the bore centers and bores are about the same (bore centers ARE the same). Indy obviously picked up on that and changed the mold for their Chrysler head to come with the AMC bolt pattern.
Indy SR heads are direct replacements for the AMC heads and use all AMC hardware. They don't have the power potential that the HR has, but are better than stock AMC heads. They also have a bit more "meat" in critical areas and can be ported more than AMC heads.
I don't have any direct experience with these heads, this is all info I've gathered second hand from people who do. I might have the designations reversed (SR/HR), or they may have changed.

I thought the Indy setup had to use the Indy intake too....is that right? If
you are using a stock style intake, can you use indy heads?
