Greg,
I am restoring a 70 AMX.  Several years ago I installed all new rubber bushings on the front end.  My project then sat in the garage for 6 years because I moved cross country.  Recently I got back to my project and had to entirely replace every bushing because they had dry rotted.  This car was not left outside but was garaged.  Even though the consensus seems to be to go with rubber bushings, this time I used poly bushings. In my opinion this is a huge improvement.  They will not dry rot.   I also had the entire front end powder coated (except for tie rods) and it looks great.  If you have not considered powder coating you should because it is cheap and looks great.
