I just checked my TSM collection. 1979 was the last year of no-stepper BBD carb, 1980 was the first year. Anything after 1979 that doesn't have a stepper motor and computer is a retrofit. Jeeps even used the stepper motor BBD with computer.

I thought 83 was the first year for the computer and the carburetor with the 
stepper motor.  I'll have to figure out some way to look this up.
