Nope, looks totally like a good idea, caveat, if the 196 needs
that heat dump to run well and keep the fuel suspended.
Lots of racers use several different kinds of epoxy to build
up ports and fill voids. They commonly use this stuff in exhaust
ports. Bruce Hevner of one of the other engine builders should
be able to point you in the right direction.
As always, the less power you start with on the base engine,
the more apparent a few horsepower are!
