[AMC-list] Hot rod 258 questions

I'm putting together another hot rod 258 to drop in my 64 440 (finally gettin to it). I've stretched this six a little further than my last one, but have some questions.
     The exhaust bolts that came off the engine have a hole drilled down the center, looks like an oiling hole but there is only one entrance. Is this hole just for heat issues and can I just put in regular class 5 bolts?
     The head bolts are 7/16". Where can I get a set? The Chryco dealer wants as much as $230 depending on who looks up the bolts in the book, and no one around here carries that size head bolt. I should have drilled out the block for 1/2" but that's then, and this is now.
     I blew that trivia test a week ago, only got about 50% and I'm a grey beard. Oh well.....Russ
