I found a pair of those wooden supports under the carpet of my 1979 AMX, on either side of the axle hump (presumably to provide a flat expanse when the rear seat backs are folded down). My 1982 Spirit had plastic versions. As far as non-decorative lumber, if you ever get a chance to look under a current Morgan, they still use plywood for at least the trunk floor. And in one of the current hi-po Corvettes (Z06, ZR1?), they use balsa wood sandwiched between carbon fiber for the floors. dan From: Joe Fulton <piper_pa20@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: Rambler Nash Jeep and familyAMC <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [AMC-list] 2 carb head for the Rambler flathead engines Message-ID: <695646.3222.qm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > " Or, another trivia question I asked years ago and got no > answer, is Rambler > " the last car manufacturer to have lumber in the car in a > non-decorative > " place? (My 63 Classic Cross Country has a *plywood* rear > seat back, 64 > " probably does too...) My 1980 Spirit had a wooden support and chipboard cover for the mini-spare stored flat in the cargo area of the hatchback. I suspect all hatchback Spirits had this cover so that would have continued until when? 1983?
