I drove back that day, spent NYE in Los Angeles. Visited a lot of sites on this trip, but here's a few photos. Videos will take effort to edit and upload. Stupid picasa hashed the filenames which served as captions, oh well. http://picasaweb.google.com/tomj.wps/ArmyAirfield# http://picasaweb.google.com/tomj.wps/CampSite# http://picasaweb.google.com/tomj.wps/3031Dec2009MojaveRoadTripStills# On Fri, Jan 1, 2010 at 20:09, <das24rules@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > sounds like a friggin sweet way to spend new years eve to me. bombin down > the > runway where who knows how many b-17's, 29's p51's ect ran. then top it off > with a nice camp fire, and some beers. sounds great to me. lol. dave > stohler > > I didn't light a fire; short trip and too windy. But I did use for the first time my renovated Coleman Model 530 stove -- it burns GASOLINE! Apparently was WWII GI issue too, so coincidentally appropriate. It was my grandfathers, I finally got it apart to clean out old gas from the 1970's (really). When first lit it shoots yellow flames up about a foot until the carburetor is hot enough to vaporize the gasoline, then it runs a nice blue flame. On the "stills" album there's two videos, I think they are of lighting the stove at night. Unedited, so you'll need to have patience to see it run. I'll edit later. Might not load though. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
