Yep. Most Jeep wheels are about 5.75" backspacing. IIRC my fronts are 3.25". Makes a 2.5" space needed. Billet ones can be had. You can also build the car for the wheels with a wider rear axle and front blocks behind the spindles. Usually you will end up with a lot of effort or extra cash expended to get "lower cost" wheels. ------Original Message------ From: Sandwich Maker Sender: amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx ReplyTo: AMC, Rambler, Nash, Jeep and family Subject: Re: [AMC-list] Wheel Choices Sent: Nov 13, 2009 9:31 AM " From: Marc Montoni <Freedom@xxxxxxxx> " " " Does anyone know if there is any reason why Jeep 4.5" bolt circle wheels (such as a set from a Jeep Compass) couldn't be used on AMC passenger cars? backspacing. all those jeeps use fwd-style deep backspacing wheels, because of the front axle steering/drive geometry. the eagle uses the same deep backspacing wheels, but no other amc. i think that unless you use massive spacers you stand to encounter lots of suspension interference. i know they wouldn't work on my american. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device from U.S. Cellular _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
