The Eagle springs are flat because they were designed to go on top of the axle. The other car's springs go under the axle. My Spirit has Eagle springs with Spirit main leaf, so it sits pretty high now. Looks like the Eagle axle has a bad hub, so I will be swapping it out sooner than planned for an XJ 3.07 diff (I think it's very low geared now because speedo reading 80 mph with stock Eagle tires allowed everyone to pass me like I was standing still!) I have a non-vacuum Eagle 3.07 front diff I'll be putting in (after replacing the bearings and seals) come springtime. I need the car rolling before winter and I have only this week off to get things done (had 3 days of feeling yucky. Starting to feel MUCH better since losing almost 20 lbs this AM) Going out to finish assembling the Rebel now. Still need a Postal Jeep speedo plug, but we're putting in a rubber plug for now. Bad part is the trans crossbar has to be spaced down about 1" to keep the driveshaft from hitting the bottom of the floor shifter till we lift it up or hack up another (pinto style from the '77 AMX I parted) one I have to clear it. Found the correct trans mount too. Took a LOT of digging, but it's for a Ford and NAPA had it in their warehouse. Part number BK: 620-1071 but there are 3 similar ones with a different offset to the top plate. (1072 and 1073) This was the longest of the 3 and local, so I figured I could redrill it and shorten it to fit if necessary. Just wish it sat a little lower! I've noticed that AMC leafs tend to sag pretty quickly -- like after only a few thousand miles (I remember them doing so when they were new, too). Has anyone beefed their leaves up any to correct sagging? What's the best way to do it? Add a second long leaf to each spring? Helper springs? >Large Eagle springs are the same except for the arch.
