If anyone in the midwest wants it, make a fair offer, that also goes for the 343 that I was putting into it

Thank Frank will try that this weekend, the car seems to be running great now but it is also in the 50s outside, when it gets back up to usual winter like 70s/80s it will probably start having that 'whoosh' effect again when opening gas cap, but will try this. Thanks to all who have replied also it is appreciated.Eddie Stakes 713.464.8825 eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.planethoustonamx.com----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Swygert" <farna@xxxxxxx>To: <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: "Eddie Stakes" <eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, October 30, 2009 7:52 PM Subject: re: amc eagle vented gas capsThat might be because the return line from the fuel filter was acting as a vent once you disconnected it from the fuel filter. The tank should have a vent, probably vented through the line to the charcoal cannister. Disconnect the line to that valve and see if that helps. As long as you don't start smelling gas fumes or leaking it should be okay. But do watch for that as soon as you disconnect it, and make sure there are no leaks or fumes inside the car. My 63 has a tank vent near the top but the hose runs up to the fuel filler and vents out there, so no leaks under/fumes in the car. Would be easy enough to run that line up and under a rear wheel well where it can vent but not collect fumes in the car.------------- Date: Thu, 29 Oct 2009 20:12:00 -0500 From: "Eddie Stakes" <eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>If we weren't flooding again (and electricity still up, lightning not problem but under tornado warning and flood warning!) I would take a photo of the page in the big AMC dealers book I mentioned earlier showing the fuel illustrations which shows the small solenoid disconnected thing in back under the car, but also shows return fuel line. Interesting is that my 82 white Eagle has this return line disconnected under the hood, the fuel filter originally was same type on my wife's 88 Eagle, one line in....two lines out, one of them goes to carb the other returns to tank. I put single in, single out fuel filter on this when I ripped out a pile of useless emissions items on the car 10 years ago and about 100,000 miles ago. The car is emissions exempt so no problems there. But has tons more horsepower after I did that a decade ago. But no problems with the 'whoosh' effect on this white 82 Eagle when i remove gas cap regardless of how hot in Houston.-- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!)_______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxhttp://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
