Hey guys, I tried out the homemade deruster today and it works ... BUT ... it takes way too long for my liking. I ran the rear axlew under the sprinkler stream for about 4 hours today, and heated the water up too. I could see signs of the rust being removed (yellow water) and decided to wirebrush the area while being sprayed. A lot of the rust came right off ... down to bare metal. See the pics link, below. While it did "work", the citric acid would take a couple of days to de-rust an entire axle. IMHO ... too long ... considering that the www.ridrust.com product will clean the area being sprayed in 20-minutes. At that rate, an entire axle could be done in probably 2-3 hours.
