Re: [AMC-list] Adding TBI fuel injection to a...

I friend of mine ran a hornet carb on his 84 XJ 2.5 for a long time. I know he had to do some tuning to get it to work. I would guess the bolt pattern is the same.

Yes, the first couple years (84-85) used a Carter YFA 1V carb. Didn't know that, had to look it up! The YFA both use a two bolt mount similar to the older YF carbs, can't tell if it's the same from illustrations. At least that's what the diagrams in my Haynes & Chilton's manuals show. Mo clear illustration of the Renix TBI base, but I'd bet it's a different intake cast for an existing Renault TBI unit.

didn't the amc/jeep 4 first come out with a yf before going to renix
tbi, then mpi? maybe the tbi still used the carb intake.

I don't recall who made the carb, but I have one at home in my for sale pile including the manifolds. There was a slight mold difference in the exhaust between 84 and late 86 (tbi). They will interchange with a minor adjustment of the alignment holes.
I also have a 4 cyl with TBI I can compare it to ( until next week)
