I also wasn't going to vote because of having to sign up for another site, but relented once I saw just how nice the Pacer was. My thoughts though were that they said you could only vote once, but it appeared that you could actually enter more than one vote which I think indicates a poorly designed web site.
So what would stop me from going in to all the competitor's pages and casting multiple votes for them so that they too get votes thrown out? I can't imagine that 1,300 people voted twice for her, or even that one person voted 1,300 times.
Sheldon, Thanks for the nice words about the Pacer! And thanks for voting, er, ranking! Yes, it is a poorly designed site. And the voting concept is very flawed. Since each voter is ranking a car from one to ten, then each car can be ranked by every voter and the highest accumulated ranking car wins. Texaco assumes that each voter is going to take the time to rank every car. 1300 points meant at least 130 voters ranked the Pacer as a 10. Since Texaco threw out those votes, they must have thought at most 65 voters voted twice, using different email addresses. It could have been less voters voting more than twice. (or more voters if they ranked the car less than 10) I don't see how they figure that out. Let's say my brother-in-law's family all vote for the Pacer from their home computer and they use the same internet service provider for their email accounts. Would all of those votes be thrown out? Thanks again for voting or attempting to vote! Voting ends 10-12-09 at 7 PM EST.
