Ouch (reversed battery). Generally, very bad to do. This to worry about: ECM stereo, etc alternator Matt made some good suggestions; make sure everything else is OK, or fix it, or ignore it if you can (eg. stereo). guages, lighting, etc probably doesn't care at all! However, some relays have noise-suppression diodes across them. With backwards battery, they conduct and fry. That probably won't leave you stranded though. stereo, obvious check alternator, guessing, but diodes would conduct and carry a crapload of current. Would depend on how long it was left connected backwards. This is a crap shoot. Then I'd check EVERYTHING ELSE, headlights, flashers, etc. You don't need flashers or whatever, but problems/no problems would indicate things to look for. OK, the ECM: modern silicon integrated circuits have zero tolerance for reverse polarity. If i had to guess without testing, I'd say 80% chance the ECM is ruined. I know it's an Eagle, a feedback carburetor I assume? I don't know anything about those at all, but it's integrated silicon... What I would do is, disconnect the battery, and leave it off for a whole minute or five. Connect the battery. Turn car on and look for CHECK lamp and fuel pump relay on..off, or whatever it does normally. If not, it's likely deceased. If it's a GM TBI (Mark said?) on ignition on it flashes the CHECK light, runs the fuel pump for 2? seconds, then leaves CHECK on until started. Going from memory here. If it does nto do that it's fried.
