the radio in my 62 classic still works, and also the one in my 63 american
works. i dont like to use them. (mainly cause they are am, and i dont listen
to anything on am) i got one of them sasche radio mount kits for under dash
mount and mounted a modern stereo to the bottom of the dash. on my 63, i
think i am going to mount it a little further up under the dash so it is
harder to be seen. just a thought for you.
