i got caspers motor together lastnight. got it to fire up. new rings and rod bearings. honed out the cylinders while they were empty. cleaned off all the pistons and head real good. once i got fuel to it she fired right up. running on only 4 cylinders however. i had 2 cylinders that i didnt get the pushrods in the lifters right. had to loosen them up, and redo those 2. then she fired right up and ran great. those 196's sound pretty mean when it is just strait out of the exh. manifold. hehe. i also had to get real ticked off at myself lastnight. the oil pan on those little motors are kinda a pain to get on when you got good gaskets to use. i think next time i will just use the right stuff again. i got so ticked off it was taking me so long to do the oil pan, that i forgot to put the plug in. so, 5 1/2 quarts of oil.... ALL OVER MY DRIVE WAY UNDER THE CAR NOW!!!! and i still got to get under there to put the front suspension back together so i can move it. yippeeee. so, now i just got to get the little minor things rehooked. i also noticed i have no brake pedal. somehow, i fractured the rear brake line... so maybe i will get to drive hersome more this summer. _______________________________________________
