I have a problem with oil coming out of my dipstick. It doesn't blow the dipstick out but there is evidence of oil on the plug wire below and aft of the tube and steering shaft. It's a 74 Jav/AMX, recently rebuilt 401(.030 over), Indy heads, speed pro pistons (9.5-1 cr), air gap intake, K&N air filter and an Edelbrock breather in the oil fill tube, Milodon 8 qt oil pan, crank scraper, internal oil line. The PCV valve is installed in the back of the intake running up to a 750 Carter AFB. I was going to install breathers in my valve covers but read the following threads and am now holding off: 'also the valve covers are history!!!! Have found that after the burn out and a hard run today to about 5,000 rpm, the oil came up through the filter and all over the place, you called it Charles, yet again...' 'i don't know what you got for covers but if they got breathers in em take them off and toss em for some without breathers. i put breathers in my edelbrock covers and they did nothing but puke oil out of em after they got oil soaked.' I thought of reinstalling the original fill cap (or a breather with a nipple on it) and running a hose back to a T fitting on the line from the carb to the PCV valve. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
