2057 is brighter in lumens and has a slightly shorter life.
They interchange fine, maybe a possibility of extra heat distorting a lens in a housing that is small.
I have not had that issue with mine.

What's the difference in these two tail-stop light bulbs?   I have ended up with many 2057 (from dismantled cars and such) but it seems the old AMCs take the 1057 or 1056.
