Thanks for the quick response. I wish my memory was as good as yours.
OK then, the 219s are 50.6cc and the 72 big valve heads went to a 58cc
chamber,
so I'm guessing now that the early 71 50.6cc heads made a 10.2 compression
ratio,
then the jump to the bigger 58cc chambers must have dropped it to 9.5???
and the 58cc heads with the new piston design dropped the c/r to 8.5.
Does that sound correct?

I know you asked jim but I wanted to mention the 219 heads made in 70 and 71
were 50.6 CC combustion chambers. in 72 they went to a 58 cc and then later
changed the piston design.

Do you know what the differences are between the 10.2, the 9.5 and the 8.5
are?

I know the early 71 401 had the 219 heads with 58cc combustion chambers,
Did AMC drop the compression to 9.5 by using a bigger combustion chamber
head
in late 71 and then go to different pistons to get the 8.5??
