The Metal Bumping book you can get from Eastwood Products endorses the use of a "big hammer" for severe bends/dents. The theory is that if you peck at a big dent with a small hammer you will stretch the metal much more than when you knock the s@@t out of it with a big hammer. I used a big hammer on the floor of my Pacer to fix a dent caused by forklifting the car. My neighbor heard the racket and thought I was mad at something.
