Postal money orders are a half a$$ed protection. The only way they really work is if you get lucky and its just a screw up seller. My kid dealt with one, that said he was returning the $105 money order, we never got it, had to wait Xnumber of days, file a claim and if the M.O. was not cashed, which it wasn't we got the money back, PIA and took a long time, but we got the money back! Those kind of sellers screw us all, as it only makes people less willing to buy and sell by mail order etc, My kid however has learned to be careful of who he deals with after he and I have gotten burned, but we also have gotten some sweet deals too! As someone else said, it is better to shop locally so you can go pick up the item and pay for it if you are satisfied rather than do a mail order deal. I was ripped off on a mail order deal. I filed a mail fraud claim with the post office but never even got an acknowledgement of my claim. As far as I am concerned the postal service does not enforce the laws. I had purchased a postal mail order to pay for the item, thus I was entitled to file the claim. I have purchased a couple of AMC field cars using craigslist so I will continue to search the ads and sell things as appropriate.
