No, the six started using bridged rockers in 73, but had to go back to a shaft in late 73/74 due to a patent dispute filed by Buick. The dispute was resolved (don't know how) in time for late 74+ models to go back to bridged rockers.

See the link below for a rocker arm shaft listed as '74 AMC I6.? Didn't '74 have bridged rocker arms, not a rocker shaft?
