I haven't actually tried it, but the tanks from 67-78 big cars (with the exception of the unique Matador Coupe) should physically interchange. The bodies didn't change, but the plumbing for the tanks did. That could be a challenge, but if you're not real concerned about the vapor returns and other changing emissions mess, the tanks will interchange. Sometimes there was an internal change, such as an expansion tank that was added in the 70s at one point. Most of the time it's just the connections that changed though.

Tanks are also different between wagons with two seats and three. I took 
a look in my parts book and it says 67 & 68 Rebel and Ambassador (with 
the same number of seat rows) will work. Every year after that has a 
different part number listed.
