[AMC-list] steering box lube

Simple question here, but couldn't find the answer in the owner manual.

What kind of lubricant goes in a manual steering box on a 68 Javelin?

I took it off to clean it up and paint it and it has no fluids
inside....looks like it has grease in it but not sure.
