Matt, thanks for responding................ I never drive the car in cold weather without pre warming the engine using a block heater, so I'm not concerned about cold weather starts. The 20W50 is what I have in the shop and it needs to get used up, that makes good RM sense. The engine is not a spring chicken and I would assume it has some bearing clearance increases from 110,000 miles of use, and most likely cam lobe and lifter wear. Now the fuel mileage part is definitely something to consider................ What I need to do is get a real oil pressure gauge installed in addition to the college educated warning lights (he he, get it, they're not idiot lights, just lack of common sense lights, no offense intended) and see what the actual operating oil pressures are. This may actually force me to finally get those gauges installed. Now, where's the common sense in going nearly 40 years without a real gauge!!
