I'd still LIKE to do that, but because of the cutting involved might not now that I have a 65 American two door to work with (as well as the 62 two door). That 2.3L turbo/5 speed combo will fit in the 65 engine compartment much easier. Not as cool, but less work. Not sure which way I'll go with that! Will probably build a nice J-10 before I work on another car. Mine's bad rusty, but still okay for an old farm hauler. Been collecting a few parts, including a better cab that was given to me by a friend of my dad's (the whole 74 J-10, worn out 258 six with three speed and I think Dana 20 x-fer case... anyone need one of those?). Last week a guy saw me in the J-10 getting breakfast and told me he had one he might sell for parts, come take a look. Looked at it, and might just go see what kind of deal I can work out. It was put up after being run rough too, but not rusted. 360 w/four speed, and an 83 model just like the one I'm driving. Got to finish the house first, which will occ ur about mid summer! --------- Date: Fri, 20 Mar 2009 19:24:30 -0400 From: Bruce Griffis <bruce.griffis@xxxxxxxxx> Frank, I'm hoping to hear some day of you putting that 2.3 liter turbo 4 from the Merkur into a breadbox. A turbocharged (intercooled?) 4 with a 5 speed would be pretty interesting. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
