Re: [Amc-list] 76 Hornet Pertronix distributor - vac advance dead; fix, or replace the whole POS ?

I know on my Motorcaft conversion I removed the resisitor wire from the original harness to feed the electronic box and coil full 12V.

Jerry, If you want it, I can send you the whol pile, dist and all for the cost of shipping.
I'm pretty sure it is on the shelf in my workshop, just need to box it up.
Only reason I pulled it was the 4.0L efi did not use it.

Send my your address back channel and I'll send it out tomorrow.
It's motorcraft setup with the box, I don't remember exactly what year it came out of anymore?
Yes, you would need to wire it in.

i've heard that too. these days contact cleaner and grease would
thoroughly fix it, but that was 'rocket science' back in the '70s.

a 4.0 dist will physically fit, but it's designed to be controlled
from the ecm.

with the various problems the prestolite is heir to, swapping might
not be a bad strategy, but since it doesn't have a coil ballast
resistor the hei would be easier than later amc duraspark which does
use a ballast. i'll admit i don't know if the tfi coil needs one; i
was under the impression it did.
