Nick, While I can't ship my spare shortblocks, unless we can take up donations?! I can send out a factory pre 99 cam if that will work. The contact Brien sent, Joe at Rotor-Phaze should have all the numbers. Not sure what his deal is, but maybe he would be an alternate or primary source for V-8 Cam blanks too? Please keep us up on these projects. I know I tend to fade into the woodwork from time to time, but I'd sure like to contribute something to AMC land before I croak! Wish I had the where-with-all to do a chassis dyno run on my 90% stock 4.)l efi in the American then a retest on a near to stock roller cam! Sure would be interesting to me! I'd also like to get my hands on a set of mockup hyd rollers. I could then do the legwork on one of my spare shortblocks to rule out other clearance issues before we spend to much cash on this. I believe a guy on the strokers list did some of this. Biggest difference needed is the tiebar needs to be longer on the six IIRC. The Strokers forum has not responded much from the "old guys" I guess I should try and email to that actual group. There is one guy on the strokers forum that has replied and supposedly is working on one for his own use in what looks like a salt flats Comanche truck build. But he seems to be more interested in solid lifters and using Nascar lifter bores. To make that sellable would be impossible. I'm in for a core, if we can work out a retrofit hydraulic and I believe that rests on resurrecting the AMC V8s roller hydraulics. Still not sure it will all fit down in there... If I was in Wisconsin I would toss my good but needs bored 4.0L shortblock in the back of the Jeep and run it over for use! Bummer. They were open to the idea for 2009. I would pursue this after the v8 cores are done if they go over well. Even though I am putting up the money, most of these companies want to know it will sell so I make more than one run. If not, they will most likely force me to purchase larger quantities in a run. There are definitely enough 6cyl out there to do it. Whether or not enough 6 banger guy will pony up the bucks for a roller combo is another thing. I know I would have put one in the 258 I built for our Levi Gremlin X. I was going to put a 401 in it and then thought, no, lets mess with 258 a little and see what it is like. I didn't go crazy, just brought the compression up a bit, ported the head, put a 512 lift hyd cam, 4 bbl Offy intake, dual outlet header and 2400 stall. I think a hyd roller cam would have been the ticket though. If someone has the blue prints for the either the v8 or 6 cyl engine blocks, cams etc., please let me know as that would be a big help. I am bringing a block to them in the next few days so they can get some angles and measurements for the core. I will be bringing a Alfano Performance 4849-76 st. If I TRUE AMC guy is doing this for us, well V8 guys for now. Can the movement for a six cylinder roller be revived??? The stall at the time was getting 5 guys lined up to buy blanks. IIRC, all the measurements and details on the blank needed are DONE. As Andrew stated, the basis for the Rollers was the AMC retrofit rollers from Crane. I am almost at 100% point of building my lowbuck 4.5L stroker. I may be ready to imbibe in a trip to adding a roller cam to it. Would be much more interested in it if someone like Nick was involved. I believe the only halt in getting these things done and being able to sell them is the fear factor involved in the unknown. I'd not be so freaked out by tossing the experimental stuff in a lowbuck motor. I would quite likely add it to my bone stock 4.0L to see what happened and move on to the 4.5L if I broke the 4.0L.
