I replied to this last week, don't know where it went. My 327 is a low compression 68 engine from a Jeep, spotless clean inside. Has several exh man bolts broken off in the heads, need to check it to be 100% sure but should be ready to run except for those bolts and putting an take on it. Low compression 2bbl engine. It came from a eastern Pa plow truck and was reported to have 37,000 on the clock. My plan was to pull the heads and have them redone, pull the pan check the internals. Install new timing chain and gears etc, before running. The 287 came from Tim Linton and is believed to have 65K. It has, we believe, a bad Tchain. I bought it to install in my convertible until I built a 327. Don't need it now that I have the 327. My other two 327s need built, one is apart to a shortblock, other is stuck and together as a long block. The 287 is $75 as-is, I will check to see if it is still "unstuck" but that is all I will promise. The 327 is currently priced at $750 and you need to take the convertible and parts with it! But I'd be interested in a 327 or 287...I need one for my Ambo Convertible from Arizona...engine was 'rebuilt', but not very well done. It ate the bearing because 'gorilla snot' was liberally used all over this thing and got all caught up in the oil sump pickup and clogged the oil passages. Great way to rebuilt...!! Sheeesh! Anyway, what 'condition' are these engines in (and which 327 is it, Hi or lo compression??) Subject: Re: [Amc-list] WANTED - 287 or 327 I've got a 287 I would let go dirt cheap. $50 is what I paid for it. I'd let it go for the same. Transportation would be whole other can of worms.
