[Amc-list] OT: Booby traps and respect for other's propery

This is more than a bit off topic, but I'm replying. Please make your replys to this over the next few days then let it die off! 

I have similar sentiments Russ, and after spending 24 years to make sure people have the right to enjoy all out freedoms I'm a bit torqued when someone takes advantage of those freedoms in a bad way. Unfortunately, booby traps are illegal in all states that I know of and could land you getting sued by a criminal, and the criminal winning! I know, it's BS... like when a kid walks over, jumps on my bike (motorcycle) parked in my driveway, knocks it over and breaks his leg in the process. I can get sued because the bike is an "attraction", and can't sue the kids parents to get my bike fixed (if there was any damage). My parents would have never considered suing over anything like that if I'd done it "back in the day", but I wouldn't have been able to sit for a couple hours after! Well, not if I had a broke leg, but scrapes/scratches/bruises and I'd have caught it! I'd have got quite a lecture about respecting other people's property even with a broke leg, and would have been pun
 ished in some way anyway. Too many people are like my nephew -- they want to be their kids friend and well liked by their kids, parenting comes second. I keep telling him, he can be his kids buddy, but dad has to come FIRST! Once the kid (4 year old boy) realizes that and learns the boundary, he'll be fine and dad will be more respected.

I made up a nail board for my garage. It is just inside of the door on the floor. Only me and a couple close close associates know it is there. If someone breaks the side door in and enters, they come across my nail board. 
What it is is a piece of plywood with a lot of nails through it. If someone steps on it, they have a mighty sore foot. I had this stop a low life that was ripping off the neighborhood some years ago. When I got home and found my door open, the board monkeyed with and a trail of blood leading to the street, I called the cops. I told them someone broke in and stepped on a nail. I advised them to check the hospital.
Guess what? Yeah they caught him.
Now some of you might think that is drastic or asking for trouble, but I am tired of working my tail off to but stuff and just have some low life loser decide he wants my stuff. I haven't gotten ripped off in years because people know I have several booby traps set at my place and I will shoot anyone who survives them.....Russ
