When I was scrounging Hornet parts (similar chronic foamed plastic problems) I found a curious thing: black plastic was often in very good shape, while all lighter colors fared really poorly. I painted BLACK parts WHITE! with SEM stuff. I did the whole process, garage-floor degreaser, scrubbing, the SEM vinyl or plastic cleaner, the SEM prep, SEM color, recommended application, etc. Years later stillooks fine and decently scuff proof too (that surprised me). I think the carbon used as color in older stuff stops UV damage a few molecules in. Lots of modern black color (from pens to paints) is no longer carbon, but mixed dyes and don't last as well. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
