Actually a volt gauge is safer. Pretty helpfull once you know what your watching for too! I picked up a nifty little volt gauge at a black and decker outlet store. Made by vector, plugs into the cig lighter. Digital. Backlit and the screen swivels for clear viewing! All for a whopping $6. I got it for my kid in the 98 since he has added a sub and amp and it now has 150k on it. I told him what to look for. I figure I'll probably get a phonecall anyway, " hey dad the car wont start". An ammeter can cook if not shunted and it or the wiring fails. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrac II " I realize that death is inevitable.
