I'd beg to differ on the AMC T5. I do not believe it is as weak as everyone believes it is! I have had mine in behind the 4.0L in mine for quite some time. Yeah, the gear spacing is off a little. But with 2:79's or 3:08's it is certainly driveable and not very objectional as far as gear spacing. I want to take mine out, but have just not felt up to it, so I keep driving on it. I've never opened it up from the day I bought it! Yeah they can be broke and they did break. I tend to think if it has survived till now it is probably one of the "good" ones. I believe that being on a budget I would concentrate on the engine and not stress out too much on the trans till the need arises. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrac II " I realize that death is inevitable.
