well Troy, you certainly have your work cut out for you! Rather than get an original type AC unit I'd invest in one of the complete heat and air units from one of the hot-rod AC vendors. I like Southern Air (Greenville, SC, http://www.southernrods.com/brand.php?brand=Southern+Air&category=Heating+and+Cooling+Systems), but there's Vintage Air (http://www.vintageair.com/index.asp)and a couple others. At Southern a complete system runs $800-$900, at VA it runs $1000-$1200+. You can just get the interior stuff for around $400, but will need hoses, condensor, and compressor. Have new hoses made, but you can get the rest from a salvage yard. Check Jeeps for the compressor brackets, later V-8 Grand Wagoneers (through 91) use a Sanden or other brand compact compressor. If you're keeping a six (a 4.0L with EFI would be a GREAT engine in that Jav -- better than a 304, not quite like a 360 but close to a stock 360), the 4.0L compressor will be fine. ---------- Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2008 21:08:59 GMT From: "tbsilvey@xxxxxxxx" <tbsilvey@xxxxxxxx> I've picked up a project car that needs lots of parts and work. While rebuilding I'm thinking of adding some options not originally on the car like disc brakes and air conditioning. Has anyone had any similar experience? See a couple of pictures here. I'll be adding more later. http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?ep=334&fileid=2371702&groupid=381850&folderid=296921&curRec=3&folderview=thumbs&ck= -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
