I'd tend to agree. A $300 door is pricey, but figure 100% markup on most all parts of this type when independant shops deal in used parts. I've seen it time and time again. Priceyl? Yes. The reasons behind it are to cover their arse. With doors and such you have many different components in a metal box. If the window pops off the track they then have to swap parts till it works or fight with the yard to get it "made right". Most customers will tend to tell the body shop they expent them to fix the used part on their dime too. It is actually a thin form or customer support, albiet expensive! With 100% mark up they can just fix the problem without calling the yard or customer and trying to beat them up for the extra money or eating it themselves. It's a way to get the customer to bring in their own parts too. If you supply your own used parts it is far easier for the shop to say, "sorry. but you bought the part". All a fact of life with used parts and people trying to make a buc or three or four.... -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrac II " I realize that death is inevitable.
