The online searches I have read all point to 612* being max temp, any hotter is a no-no. I have not gotten a true "feel" for what the minimum or ideal temp is. That's what I'm trying to get to. I have a cheap NCT already that I know is somewhat not real accurate, reads off about 6-8 degrees at room temps. I firgure the working temp will be somewhere in the 400 degree plus range. I have an idea that if I can locate the specs for one of Sunnens rod ovens it will say what they think is ideal. As far as I know sunnen rod ovens are the bread and butter of rod heaters for this type of stuff. UPS is supposed to drop off my new toys on Tuesday, best news I got today is the seller refunded $25. when he printed out the UPS label through Paypal it cost $25 less than when he estimated the costs on UPS site! YAY! I got to finish painting our bedroom before working in the shop though :[ -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrac II " I realize that death is inevitable.
