For the camera idea.
what about tapping two hole in the very front and rear?
Put the led down one and the camera down the other.
That way you'd be out of most of the flow area on the 196.
If the light would not cut thru the mix you could then do leds and camers at both ends and get stereo vision with a split screen.

That would be a way cool vid.
Hurry up and do it already!
Maybe you can sneak it in as work related learning :)
