Yes, $73 average includes everything -- pension, health care, and all. The last link you provided also cites that the average manufacturing factory worker in only gets an average of $31.50, and all factory workers combined an average of $28.50 (apparently excluding auto workers). The Japanese/Korean plants in the south only pay an average of $44 per hour, which sounds a lot more reasonable. To top it off, the average big three work week seems to be 35 hours instead of 40 for everyone else. I quote from the last link: "Even President Bush, who supports the bailout, seemed to hint that contracts guaranteeing high compensation levels to UAW members are a stumbling block to reaching an agreement." Bush shows his idiocy again. If the big three had much control over the demands of the UAW do you think they'd be in the position they are now? So he's thinking they need to lower wages before he'll okay a gov't loan. Great idea, as long as they agree to stop paying execs millions a year plus six figure (and sometimes seven) bonuses. There's no way the UAW will go along, even if it does mean losing their jobs! “The automakers have over time made some decisions based on their needs for their employees, and some of those decisions might have to be reworked, going forward,” White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said Monday. ------------ Date: Thu, 20 Nov 2008 10:35:32 -0600 From: "Eddie Stakes" <eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Good reading although gloomy but at least gave AMC credit where credit due. Eh, ok, there is a photo of a Gremlin also: But many press release reports say "on average" which to me at least, includes everything: http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=39499 -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
