Yeah, it would have, but it's had the adapter machined into the back for the 727 and it's been re-balanced for the stroker combo.
 
While it's nice to get an extra 10 cubes, making my stroker basically a 340 (339.1), we're going to have to get a new 304 block (which Rick Jones has) and will have to mill about 0.023"-0.033" from the tops of the pistons to get a 0.035" piston-to-head clearance, once the block is skim-cut to clean up the decks.  I'll still be running 401 bushed rods, with the 401 crank.  I'm going to end up around 10.8-11:1 compression, depending on the piston milling.
